Ski The East – 2012 Winter Client Spotlight

If you’re an eastern skier, you’ve likely seen the Ski The East stickers on helmets, cars, skiers, foreheads and your favorite bar. The flagship brand and online community of Burlington, Vt. based Meathead Films, Ski The East is a source of pride, stoke and stylish gear for the eastern skier.

This winter Geoff and Rooster (the founding partners) have a lot on their plate. So they’ve shoved some of it onto mine for the next few months and the action is just getting underway. I’m rocking the Online Editor spot and also helping out with sales and PR. Joining Mr. Fater (STE Freeride Tour) and @ermepowskier in carrying a torch.

Not going to let the real cats out of the bag, but watch for a re-launch of skitheeast.net with more content streams, rapidly growing social media tribes aimed at increasing website click-through, announcements about new company initiatives, a growing network of dealer ski shops throughout the east, and an increase in non-New England ski coverage. Check the site (pre launch) and join us on facebook and twitter. Don’t forget there’s also the Ski The East Freeride Tour as well, unifying the east’s competitive circuit.

The east is a gritty ski community and we’ll be crowdsourcing much of our stoke from the skiers “in the field”. It’s not just about the pros or going big. Check out a recent top ten tweets feature on our website. It allows everyone east of the Mississippi to get involved and also encourages use of #skitheeast winterlong. Other recent features include an opinion piece on the Snowbasin video, an interview with a Maine mogul skier heading to the World Cup, the latest from Seven Springs as they roll out their street park, and a closer look at the North Carolina ski scene.

After nearly a decade on the resort side, it’s fun to be on the media side, chasing down interesting stories and fueling the fire of eastern ski stoke, the region where I was born and raised. Now I just need to get out and ski a little. Hint, hint, resorts.
